I'm on the move....
I have been teasing some exciting news lately, and I think it's time to let you in on the secret! Gin Blossoms is moving. On Saturday, 19th April 2025, the doors of 8 Alexander Street will close for the final time, and I will be embarking on a thrilling new chapter.
Anyone that has followed me from the start knows that I started off life as a studio florist almost eight years ago, and that's exactly what I'll be going back to. This time though I will be taking up residence in my very own custom built workshop at home.
For those that I have already told the news to, their biggest question was "But why?!?" and I guess the best answer I can give to that is only one word - Flexibility.
Without the constraints of running a high street shop I will have more creative flexibility and freedom, time to work more on my website to create an easy and stress-free way for you to order your flowers (think the convenience of ordering from M&S but the personal touch of an experienced florist) and in time the move will allow me to re-introduce weddings back into my offerings.
Obviously the move will mean a couple of teeny tiny changes to how the business operates, but I have tried to make these as painless as possible for you.
Next Day Delivery Replaces Same Day Delivery
Having a smaller workspace means less storage space. Therefore, careful planning is essential for buying flowers and sundries. All orders placed before 5pm will be delivered next day. It's still a speedy service, it just means I can't dig you out of a hole if you've forgotten about your Aunt Sadie's budgie's birthday! Make sure you mark the date in your diary or better yet, use the remind me service the next time you place your order online. Oh and the great thing about the move, I'll be back to delivering 6 days a week again, Monday deliveries are back!!
Delivery Only
I have been trying to work out the logistics for those customers who prefer to collect their flowers from the shop and unfortunately collection from the workshop just isn't feasible. If you like to personally deliver your flowers you can always request the flowers to be delivered to you with a blank card for you to write your own heartfelt message. With my new found flexibility I will do my very best to have them delivered at a time convenient to you. If you are a customer who regularly orders to collect from the shop please get in touch, I have a little something for you!
New Fresh Faced Delivery Driver
Ok, that's maybe not true, it's me! I'm the new delivery driver! If you have had a Gin Blossoms delivery you will have met at least one of my two delivery drivers, my dad and my husband.
My dad retired from his "real" job 5 years ago and hasn't had a chance to properly enjoy retirement yet. I'd love for him and my mum to get out there and enjoy their retirement more while they can, which is why I am taking on the role of delivery driver. Mr Gin Blossoms works extremely hard throughout the week and has pretty much given up his Saturday golf for the past 5 years to help deliver my creations to the people of Lanarkshire. He needs an outlet for his stress, so before he starts hitting the flowers with his driver instead of driving the flowers to you, I'm giving him his Saturdays back. I have no doubt that their wee faces will pop up again from time to time to help me out, but for the most part your flowers will be delivered personally by me.
Next day delivery also means that it's much easier for me to plan my delivery route, so if you do have a preferred time for delivery I can try my very best to oblige, although I can't, as always, guarantee it.
New Chapter New Look
A new chapter deserves a new look, so you'll soon be seeing a fresh new logo introduced over the coming weeks. I hope you like it, I love it.
So What's Next?
- Once the doors close on Saturday 19th April I will be taking a week off from taking orders to clear out the shop. You have no idea how much clutter I have gathered in 5 years!
- Then it's back to taking orders from Monday 28th April. All going well I should be able to keep my existing telephone number, although given that I will be out and about delivering most of the day ordering online will definitely be the quickest and easiest way to order.
So, there you have it, I'm still here, just working a little bit differently. Still the same beautiful flowers, same quality service still with the same personal touch.
If you want to keep in the loop with what's going please sign up to my newsletter. To follow my journey, if you don't already, you'll find me on Instagram and Facebook as Gin Blossoms Flowers and if you have any questions please just ask!
Finally a massive thank you goes out to everyone that's been on this mental journey with me, I do hope you'll stick along for the ride.
